Free Love & Tasty Treats

Hi, I’m Brownie. Today mom took me to the beach with my super-sexy bff’s Piper and Zelda.  They are full-sized doodles and have flowing tails and very long legs that give off a naturally galloping gait, more like small ponies than my kangaroo bunny rabbit-type hopping, which is also amazing,  differently amazing.  And extremely fast.  Plus cool.

Anyway, Piper and Zelda know a lot about snuggling and galloping, and today I schooled them on how to train their human to give them more treats — love, pats, compliments, and of course the classic treat — tasty bits of food.

The main thing I know about humans is they really like it when we are near them and giving them mellow positive attention, which is why when we are near them they pat us and sometimes give us food treats.

So the number one easiest thing to do if you want more treats from your human is to just hang around and send them constant loving energy. Eventually there will be a treat. Then when you do get a treat act very happy and affectionate to reinforce their good behavior.

The next way to train your human is by doing what they want you to do. There are only a few things most humans want from us so it’s actually not as hard as it might seem to do what they want.

Humans want two main things — they want us to do more of something we’ve done before OR they want us to do less of something we’re doing right now.

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out which one it is because they make a lot of mouth noises and hand signals that could mean many different things.

My mom’s  trainer told her to be clear and consistent with me. Mom tries but still needs a lot of work with that so I help her develop her skills by not responding at all unless she does it the right way every time.  Then I reward her with perky responsiveness. I know my family is doing their best. I’m looking for progress, not perfection from them.  Brownie out.
