Mother by Choice
It is no surprise that the Court is treating lives of women and children as much less important than the theories and comfort of men. The ratification of abuse and slavery is not new.
But this reversal hurts especially, especially as it comes on Mother’s Day — a Hallmark holiday for sure but an opportunity to express gratitude of some kind for the mothers and mother figures in our lives and for any beings who come into our lives willing to be nurtured by us.
But thinking about the whole science egg-sperm-zygote-embryo aspect of biological mothering, thinking about the friends I’ve had who in their desire to become mothers faced medical perils that required procedures the Court is not protecting is beyond sad. Thank God for some states. Give money, ask me where.
It’s not a great situation. I don’t know anyone pro-abortion. It’s like is there anyone pro-chemotherapy? No one wants to need it. No one enjoys it, but it beats the alternatives. Dead women, unwanted, unviable people. So that’s my opinion and that’s why this Mother’s Day weekend I don’t feel like celebrating so much. I’m gonna keep going.
