Where’s the Pony?

Petunia the pessimist walks into her room and sees a big pile of horse dung in the middle of it. “Oh noooo!!!” She says, “Why is this happening to me?  This will never be clean! My room is ruined!”  Her sister, Olivia the optimist, rushes into their shared room at the same time: “Yayyy!!!” She says, clapping and jumping up and down. Petunia, perturbed, turns to her sister and says, “What are you so happy about? There’s crap everywhere!” And Olivia says, “With this much horse poop everywhere, there must be a pony!!!”

Yesterday was one of those days I was noticing the poop.  Today I’m gonna look for the pony.  I know I get to appreciate that this life includes ups and downs, internal and external.  It includes endings, that lead inevitably to beginnings, that lead inevitably to in-betweens.  I can curse the ride or enjoy it, curse myself or enjoy being me, as I am, this time around, sometimes crying sometimes rejoicing and everything in between.  I’m gonna keep going.
