Where’s the Pony?

Two siblings walk into their shared bedroom.  In the middle of the room is a huge, stinky pile of horse manure.  Sibling A exclaims, “Oh no! Our room is ruined!!! Why is this happening to me???”  Sibling B starts jumping around, clapping, “Yayyyy!!!” says Sibling B.

“What are you clapping about?” Says A, annoyed and perplexed.

“I’m clapping because with this much poop everywhere there must be a pony!”

So, same reality, different reactions, different experiences, different expectations.  I don’t know if A&B get their pony or just get to shovel shit but either way it seems like B is having a better time.  And I prefer to have a better time, regardless of what’s happening externally, the this, the that, the poop.

And so I do the stuff I’ve learned to do to shift myself from a longtime A-kind of person to more of a default B-kind of person. Every day. And none of the terrible things I thought would happen have happened. In fact it’s feeling pretty lovely most of the time to be out of the poop-dreading business and into the pony-prepping business. Same outer world, upgraded inner world. I dig it. I’m gonna keep going.
