Adulting, in a Good Way

Something adult is happening.  I’m taking care of myself in the seemingly mundane ways that don’t improve my complexion, get me a better wardrobe, cooler car, tighter abs, or anything immediately apparent to others.  But I feel so much better. I’m getting to bed at the time I know works best for me, and waking up at the time that works best for me.  I’m eating more fat, which is what I needed to balance my nutrition, and feeling better for it.

I’ve discovered that moving around in the water with intentionality gets my heart rate up enough, and feels good.  I can get moving in a way that doesn’t stress my body quite so much.

And I can fill my time a little bit more — a teeny, tiny bit more — with what gives me real joy: helping others, screen-free time connecting with my child, my husband, my family and  friends, taking time each day to feel grateful.

It’s an incremental gig for me, this life, yet the increments add up.  I’m gonna keep going.
