Day 9: The Best Day Ever

It was the best day ever yesterday.  I drove Ax, and our neighbor’s kindergartener, and our other neighbor’s third grader to school, chatted with Ax’s second grade teacher, stayed for the Principal’s coffee, hosted my regular Wednesday group, had a friend over after that, and played and read with Ax after school.  I did dishes, mindfully.

I did my physical therapy exercises, took my anti-inflammatories, iced off and on throughout the day, and felt elated to be returned to the land of the living!  The land of the living, enjoying, being with others!  I had energy to talk on the phone and listen to other people and their stuff, and even take care of some business.  Amazing what feeling better in my body can give to my soul.

Eight days felt like such a long time to be out of my normal life, occupied and pre-occupied with my health, unable to co-exist with my family and community as I wanted to.  And then, the ninth day, joy, relief, pleasure in participating in all the small and not-so-small regular tasks.  Like after recovering from flu that first day back, or the first day of Spring.  I’m gonna keep going.
