Cleo’s Scratching

Our cat Cleo started cleaning herself a little more obsessively than usual a few weeks ago.  Then it turned into scratching and biting herself.  Now it seems like the only time she’s not grooming is when she’s snoozing in my lap. She has lost a lot of weight too, even though she seems to be eating and drinking the same amount as ever.  We’ve thought about taking her to a vet but I don’t think she would want treatment of any kind, if there were treatment.

She’s not a girly-girl cat, more of an outdoorsy independent type, who also enjoys a good lap when available.  And a soft blankie in the sun.  And constant door opening and closing.  And feeding and watering.  And patting.  Basically she wants what she wants when she wants it how she wants it.  She is just like me.

I won’t want a bunch of medical interventions when I get a little stranger and more high-maintenance as I get older.  I don’t think.  I’ll want to be made more comfortable and helped to enjoy whatever time I have in whatever way I can.

Hmmm.  I think I will call the vet and see what’s up.  I’m gonna keep going.
