The Goddess Loves Pancakes

The Goddess loves pancakes and so do I.  So does my dog Brownie, which is another story.  I’m taking this class, I’m not totally sure in what, but it’s excellent and I’m getting a lot out of it.  Part of the class is about how different people worship whatever they worship, and how devotion, ritual, spiritual community, practices that connect us with a different vibrational state if you will, have been a pretty central part of life for humans throughout history, and today.

And to the extent that hasn’t been the case for me so far, not really, it’s been an interesting opportunity to watch my skepticism and resistance fight with my hope and stated willingness to try almost anything to have a better time more of the time.

So if like, a billion plus people are doing these kinds of things and finding it helpful, I’m not gonna miss my shot just because I come from a different culture where we don’t do these things.

So one of the many many practices we’ve been invited to experience, to give a whirl, is to give offerings to an object of devotion.  And, you know, do it with feeling.  So I made my devotional object some pancakes the other day, and I offered them to her, and then I ate them, which is what we’re supposed to do.

And it was awkward and delicious, awkward good, positive.  And now I’m telling you about it to kind of complete the circle, because this is what I’m doing these days — sharing what I’ve got going on.  So today I’ll confess that what I’ve got going on is making pancakes for the goddess, then taking Ax to school.  I’m gonna keep going.
